Valley Oaks Meats is a locally owned and operated full-service butcher shop in downtown Blue Springs, Missouri. We offer high-quality locally sourced meats for purchase at our meat counter, as well as bulk meat packages and custom processing services. Our motto, “Farm, Family, Flavor” encompasses all that we do at Valley Oaks. We hold ourselves to high standards and pride ourselves on delivering the best meat products to our customers straight from our farms. Valley Oaks Angus, the first branch of our business, was founded by David and Sandra Ward in 1992 through the purchase of the Brady Land and cattle herd from Knob Noster, Missouri. After experiencing rapid herd growth between 1992 and 1995, we were able to complete several successful years of production sales and show seasons into the early 2000s. Our cattle, with proven show performance and genetic excellence, put Valley Oaks’s name on the map. Throughout these early years, Valley Oaks had several notable staff members including Bill Conley and Dallas Wolthemathe as farm managers, and Jarrod Gillig (former NJAA president) as herdsman and show cattle manager, who helped establish Valley Oaks as an authority in angus cattle production. When David and Sandra’s children grew up and moved away to college, Valley Oaks decreased their herd size to a more manageable number. Now that their children (Tony, Clayton, and Cassie and their families) have returned to the area, the farm has expanded and ramped up its breeding and production again.
Our main headquarters in Oak Grove features 700 acres of pasture and over 150 registered cattle and show cattle, and breeds approximately 150 head per year. In early 2016, Valley Oaks increased its operation to two farms through the purchase of over 2,500 acres near Clinton, Missouri. This South Farm houses approximately 900 commercial cattle and calves out approximately 70 percent of our mother cows in the spring. Managed by Justin Patrick, formerly of Wright Charolais, our South Farm program has seen tremendous success and benefits greatly from Justin’s expertise.
The most recent addition to our business is Valley Oaks Meats, which opened in October 2020. This branch of Valley Oaks allows us to share our delicious, high-quality meat products with customers so they can taste the decades of work we’ve put into our business.
